Friday Fancies

Finally, a new Friday Fancies post! And it got finished just in time for the weekend, yay. This week's edition is a rather emotional and practical, compared to the more beauty-oriented ones before. The reason that for is a) I'm currently writing my second bachelor thesis and need to have it handed in in less than two weeks, which also does count as an excuse for my online absence, right? And b) My family visited me the past two days and saying goodbye to my darling little brother was heartbreaking +  the birthday party of one of my closest friends last week reminded me of how important true friends and people, who love and support you, really are.

So, pictured above are my thesis necessities aka sweet, chocolaty treats and highlighting text marker stripes. Furthermore, there are my new fruity Labellos and items that represent beautiful memories. These Billa fair-trade chocolate covered berries are too good to be true! Unfortunately, there are just a few berries in the bag - but the price of 0,99€ is more than ok. While writing for hours, I could also eat for hours.. Snacks in small pieces come in handy ;) The watermelon and peach Labellos were part of a huge Beiersdorf pr package I received some time ago and I really love the smell these. So perfect for spring and summer. And last but not least a quote I can totally relate to: "Collect memories, not things." The ticket to Viennese zoo 'Schönbrunn' is left from yesterday's family date and the shiny lace heart is from my mom. I made her pay for it the last time in Carinthia ;)

Love, Julie.

Sunny Stripeys

Yesterday was a great day. It was the sunniest and warmest so far this year and we worshipped that ideal spring weather (20°C degrees, yay!) by going out on a day date and sipping iced chai lattes at the MQ. I love this place and the awesome restaurant 'Halle', which you should definitely pay a visit to when you're in town!

I totally enjoyed going out without a jacket and was wearing my Forever21 stripey blazer instead. Paired with black skinny jeans, a plain white loose shirt, leopard chucks and my MK Selma bag, the outfit was perfect for a casual city stroll. Oh, please note the reflection of my fierce photographer in the detail picture below ;)

Have a great weekend!

Love, Julie.

Pandora Spring Collection 2014

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Pandora spring presentation, also showing pieces of the V-day and - which was the main reason for me waiting with this post - special Mother's Day collection. I have fallen in love with most of the jewelry; my favourites are the delicate rings and I really like the earrings as well. The new collections mainly consist of pale pink and lilac shades and feature a lot of floral ornaments, such as daisies and roses. After the Pandora Essence Collection launch, there's another addition to the product range: letters. As pictured below, you can now create your own bracelets with your initials and/or words with a special meaning to you or your beloved ones. But enough words written, take a look yourself.

Love, Julie.

Demons

"I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There’s nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide
It’s where my demons hide"

Natural Cosmetics {Weleda Nailcare}

A couple of days ago, I received a little Weleda package which contained the brand's new nail care line. As I love to do my nails when I'm a little stressed out, I immediately tried the products in the evening. And let me tell you something - I'm totally, utterly over the moon! So, what's news? There are three products to be launched in the next few weeks: a nail skin remover, a nail care pen and a nail oil pen. Each of those will be available for the price of 9, 95€ to 10, 95€ at drugstores and cosmetic shops.

The vegan nail skin remover helps to moisturize and softly push back cuticles. The nail care pen is the intensive care product of the among, providing oils from pomegranate, jojoba, chamomile, shea butter, almond, coconut, sunflower, soy and bee's wax for nails and cuticles. To make it work, you have to spin and 'click' the end of the pen until the right amount of oil comes out and is ready to be massaged into the nails. The vegan nail oil pen is the third care product of the new array and also supplies the nails with several oils for protection and luminousness.

Main ingredient of these products is  pomegranate, which was first found in Weleda's regenerative hand cream in 2009 and perfectly supplements the nail care launch. I have been using this hand creme for many years now and love the fact that Weleda is a certified cruelty-free, natural cosmetics brand.

Love, Julie.

*A big 'thank you' to Weleda for providing me with these pr-samples.

Discreet Pastels {Spring Home Decoration}

Who doesn't love fresh flowers and a pop of pretty pastel colours to brighten up one's home? To me, these are always welcome to be the centre of my spring decoration. I've displayed these rather discreet pieces of scenery on my Hemnes sideboard immediately after putting away the last relicts of x-mas and wintertime, which is why I kept it rather simple and did not want to overdo the decoration colourwise or clutter up with too many bits and pieces. Here's my (pre Easter) spring-ready decor; I hope you like it and my way of displaying these items could inspire you to take a chance on your very own setting.

Cut Out Dress

The beginning of March - slowly rising temperatures,  some shy sunbeams and the season's first ice cream - implicates that spring is around the corner. As the jackets get lighter and leave a lot more creative space to be used (clothing-wise) than the winterly predecessors, I love to style airy fabrics with edgy twists. Here's what I wore today for a stroll through the city and our neighbourhood (Prater). I love the cut outs and the shade of green of this Forever21 dress and was happy to add a pop of colour to the black-everything rest of the ensemble. My Michael Kors Selma bag is my steady companion at the moment and THE key piece of my easygoing wardrobe routine.

Love, Julie.
